Federal government to run exchanges in nine of those thirteen states
A recent analysis revealed that two-thirds of the uninsured population is located in thirteen states. Of those thirteen states, the federal government will be responsible for running those exchanges. The nine states that are handing full responsibility over to the Federal government are: Virginia, Arizona, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Texas. The remaining four states are split. California and New York will run their own exchanges and Michigan and Illinois will partner with the Federal government.
