President’s Budget to Raise Medicare Premiums

One in four Medicare recipients will pay more

Contained within the President’s 2014 Budget, is a plan to increase Medicare premiums for upper-income seniors. The plan includes creating five new brackets to increase revenue from the top tiers of retirees.

Also reported in the April 15, 2013 NAHU Newswire is an article about grace periods for non-payment of premium from individuals that purchase coverage through the exchange. Doctors may be forced to collect payments from individuals directly as insurance companies will not process claims for patients that have not paid premiums for 3 months.
