Short-term fix for Medicare payment cuts
As part of the fiscal cliff negotiations, the 26.5% Medicare reimbursement rate reduction has been delayed for another year. As a result of this deal, hospitals will pick up nearly half of the cost of stopping the payment cut for Medicare physicians.
Also reported in the January 2, 2013 NAHU Newswire is an article on the IRS clarification of the Affordable Care Act provision that employers must offer health insurance to employees and their children. The “affordable” provision depends entirely on the individual coverage for the employee only.
