Northeast Delta Dental’s Health Through Oral Wellness (HOW) Program

Posted 03.18.15

Northeast Delta Dental’s Health through Oral Wellness (HOW) program is a patient-centered wellness program designed to help members maintain oral health through education, risk assessment, and evidence-based models of care. Patients at greater risk for oral diseases or medical complications related to oral health will be eligible for enhanced preventive benefits.

This benefit is added to all fully insured employers as of their 2015 renewal, and to Administrative Services Only (ASO) employers at the employer’s choice.

The HOW program begins with the member registering for free at HealthThroughOralWellness.com. After registering, members are invited to take a free oral health risk assessment, and encouraged to share the assessment results with their dentist. The dentist can also perform a clinical version of the assessment, the results of which will be shared with Northeast Delta Dental.

Upon the member receiving the clinical oral health risk assessment from their dentist, the results will be scored to determine if they are considered to be at risk for oral health disease. If so, Northeast Delta Dental will automatically extend additional preventive dental benefits to the member (subject to the provisions of their dental policy).
