Consent Elements and Disclosures for Workplace COVID-19 Testing and Communicating With Employees About COVID-19 Vaccines
Posted 02.12.21
Employers play a critical role in helping promote and providing accurate information about COVID-19 vaccinations. As employers develop their COVID-19 vaccination plans, employee communication will play a pivotal role in the plan coming to life in the workplace.
As of this writing, vaccine programs are not yet available to many employers, depending on the type of organization and guidance from local officials. However, vaccination programs will extend to additional workplaces as vaccine availability increases, meaning that employers should begin planning accordingly.
COVID-19 testing may be incorporated as part of a comprehensive approach to reducing transmission in non-health-care workplaces. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has also issued guidance on the elements of consent and disclosures necessary to support employee decision-making when employers incorporate workplace COVID-19 testing.
