Republicans Introduce Bills Loosening Restrictions on HSAs and FSAs

Would bring back OTC purchases and other revisions

Senators Orin Hatch and Marco Rubio have introduced a bill in the Senate that would eliminate the ban on over the counter drug purchases with HSA dollars, allow married couples to make catch-up contributions to the same HSA and permit HSA dollars to purchase low-premium health and long-term care insurance. There is also some re-defining of some qualified expenses to encourage fitness. House Representative Erik Paulsen has introduced a similar bill in the House.
