Massachusetts Equal Pay Law

As reported by The National Law Review, Massachusetts legislature passed a pay equity bill aimed at closing the gender wage gap and promoting equal pay for “comparable work” among men and women.
The law will take effect July 1, 2018. 5 key points to the law include:
1) The definition of “comparable work”,
2) Employee ability to discuss wages,
3) Employer’s inability to require wage history,
4) Employer self-evaluation of pay practices,
5) Employer inability to reduced compensation to comply with the law.
